Bank of Ghana Publishes New eCedi Report as Digital-Currency Debate Evolves
The central bank says payment systems remain central to the efficiency of the economy as it develops its digital-currency work.
The Bank of Ghana has published a new report on the eCedi, its central-bank digital-currency initiative. The release comes as central banks around the world continue to test how sovereign digital money might coexist with cash, bank deposits and private payment platforms. Key issues include offline payments, financial inclusion, privacy, cybersecurity, interoperability and the role of commercial banks.
