Importers Urge Ghana to Strengthen Digital Systems at Ports
Business groups say outages on government payment platforms have caused delays and financial losses.
Ghana’s Importers and Exporters Association is calling for stronger digital resilience at the country’s ports after recent platform outages disrupted customs and payment processes. The group wants better maintenance, technical support and backup systems so that essential transactions can continue when a central platform fails. As Ghana digitises more customs and trade procedures, reliability is becoming as important as adoption. A single point of technical failure can delay containers, raise demurrage costs and undermine the efficiency gains promised by digital trade systems.
