GTEC Warns Public Over 100 Unrecognised Tertiary Institutions
Prospective students and employers are being urged to verify recognition status before relying on qualifications.
Ghana’s Tertiary Education Commission has published a list of 100 institutions it says are not currently recognised, citing quality-assurance concerns. The list includes Ghanaian and foreign-based institutions. The practical lesson for students is to verify an institution’s status before paying fees or beginning a programme, especially where recruitment is conducted online or through agents. Employers and professional bodies should likewise confirm questionable qualifications through GTEC rather than relying solely on certificates presented by applicants.
