Corrections and Complaints

We aim to get things right, and to fix them quickly and openly when we do not.

Report an error

Send the article link, the specific passage you believe is wrong, what the correct position is, and any supporting evidence, through our contact page, marking your message Correction. Please include a way for us to reach you.

How we handle it

  1. We acknowledge every correction request, normally within two working days.
  2. The Standards Editor reviews the claim with the reporting desk and checks it against the original sourcing.
  3. If we are wrong, we correct the article and tell you what we have done.

How corrections appear

  • Correction: a material error of fact. The article is amended and carries a dated correction note explaining what was wrong.
  • Clarification: the article was accurate but open to misunderstanding. We add wording that removes the ambiguity.
  • Update: the story has moved on. The article carries an updated timestamp and, where the change is significant, an explanatory note.
  • Removal: reserved for legal or safety reasons. We do not quietly delete journalism; where an article is withdrawn we say so.

Typographical fixes that do not change meaning are made without a note.

If you are not satisfied

Ask for your complaint to be escalated to the Editor-in-Chief, setting out why you believe the outcome was wrong. We will respond with a final decision and our reasons.

Complaints we cannot resolve here

Complaints about advertising, third-party content or user comments are handled separately; tell us which applies and we will route it to the right team.
