China, Russia and India Meet as the SCO Tests Its Global Influence

Leaders from China, Russia and India are among the delegations gathering in Kyrgyzstan for a Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit that will test how far the group can translate geopolitical ambition into coordinated action.

Associated Press reporting says the meeting is expected to include bilateral talks alongside the formal summit. For Beijing and Moscow, the forum offers a platform to promote a less Western-centred international order. India, meanwhile, continues to use the organization to preserve strategic flexibility while managing difficult relationships within the group.

The SCO has expanded well beyond its original Central Asian security focus, but its members do not share a single foreign-policy agenda. The summit therefore matters both for the agreements it produces and for what it reveals about the limits of cooperation among major non-Western powers.
