OpenAI was issued warrants estimated at $5.5 billion in power-infrastructure company SB Energy, according to draft listing documents reported by The Wall Street Journal and cited by Reuters.

The reported arrangement illustrates how the artificial-intelligence investment cycle is extending beyond chips and software into electricity generation, grid connections and data-centre infrastructure. Reliable power has become a strategic constraint for companies racing to train and operate increasingly demanding models.

Reuters said it had not independently verified the report and that the companies had not immediately commented. Investors will be watching the eventual filing for details on valuation, conditions and the long-term relationship between the two businesses.
