Public Trust Is Built Through Delivery and Political Voice

Trust in government is not created by communication alone. It grows when institutions are reliable fair responsive and open to public scrutiny. The OECD's 2026 trust survey places political voice and the quality of decision making at the centre of that relationship.

People who believe they can influence decisions tend to express greater confidence in institutions. Evidence use integrity and responsiveness also matter when governments manage difficult long-term trade-offs. Public agencies therefore need accessible services clear standards and meaningful consultation.

Trust should not be confused with agreement. Citizens can disagree with an outcome while retaining confidence in a process they consider honest competent and accountable.
