Nasarawa officials report 134 arrests during sanitation exercise
Authorities say compliance improved, while urging markets and motor parks to maintain daily cleaning.
Nasarawa authorities say 134 people were arrested during the state’s September sanitation exercise across its 13 local government areas. Arise News reported that officials gave the figures after the Saturday exercise in Lafia.
Chief prosecuting officer Abubakar Muhammad said 26 people were arraigned in Lafia. Environment officials described compliance as better than the previous month, particularly among tricycle operators.
The state urged market operators and motor parks to clean their surroundings before opening and called for sanitation to become a daily practice. The report distinguishes the statewide arrest total from the smaller number arraigned in Lafia; it does not report convictions for all those arrested.
