Environmental group ECARD has called for comprehensive remediation after a reported oil spill near Ogboinbiri and Keme-ebiama in Southern Ijaw, Bayelsa State. The Southern Examiner published the account on 28 September.

Investigator Alagoa Morris said the incident occurred on 23 September and that he visited the site three days later. He said cleanup had started and attributed a finding of equipment failure to a joint investigation visit.

That explanation is presented as ECARD’s account: NewsRena has not reviewed the investigation record, and the source report does not include Oando’s response. The group is asking for restoration of affected waterways, land and livelihoods alongside the immediate cleanup.
