Four branches of the Nigerian Bar Association in Plateau State have called for stronger protection of communities and investigations into security responses to recent attacks. THISDAY reported their joint press conference in Jos on 28 September.

The Jos, Bukuru, Pankshin and Shendam branches raised concerns about Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Bokkos. They urged better support for security personnel and greater transparency in the prosecution of suspects.

The lawyers also cautioned residents against circulating unverified information that could deepen tensions. Their statement is a demand for action and accountability; it does not by itself establish the identity of perpetrators in each incident or replace findings from an investigation.
