Women farmers in Jigawa State are asking for more agricultural funding and clearer land arrangements, Channels Television reported on 28 September. The state chapter of SWOFON presented a budget assessment conducted with the International Budget Partnership.

The assessment put agriculture’s average share of approved state budgets during 2021–2025 at 6.58%, with average capital-budget execution of 65.9%. SWOFON urged the government to move towards the 10% allocation benchmark cited in its report.

The group also called for documented beneficiary plots, tenure terms and complaint channels. It argued that equipment and grants need to be connected to storage, transport, processing and buyers if farmers are to improve their incomes.
