Itu tops Akwa Ibom sports festival as youth golf training is announced
The organisers’ medal table puts Uruan second and Etinan third.
Itu Local Government Area finished top of the 2026 Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival with 108 medals, The Sun reported on 28 September, citing figures released by the organising committee on Sunday. Uruan followed with 83 medals and Etinan with 51.
At the closing event in Uyo, the state government also announced free golf training for 155 teenagers, with five to be drawn from each of the 31 local government areas.
The programme is intended to develop players ahead of the next festival. The reported approval is the start of that process; it does not establish that selection or training has already been completed.
