Adasu University Suspends FYB Activities Over Indecent Conduct

The Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, has suspended Final Year Brethren (FYB) Week and all associated social activities on campus following alleged violations of conditions governing the celebrations.

In a notice dated October 16, 2026, the university’s Dean of Students, Dr Nelson O. Alyebo, announced the suspension with immediate effect, citing violations of the conditions attached to the approval granted for the Student Union and FYB Week celebrations.

According to the notice issued by the Office of the Dean of Students, the university had earlier approved the concurrent observance of Student Union Week and FYB Week, subject to strict conditions.

The conditions included responsible conduct of activities in accordance with university rules and regulations, strict observance of decent dressing, and a prohibition on acts capable of bringing the institution into disrepute.

However, the university said the conditions were “flagrantly violated” during the activities, prompting the suspension of FYB Week and all related social events on campus.

The notice further stated that individuals involved in the alleged indecent acts, despite previous warnings, would be investigated and reprimanded as appropriate in accordance with the university’s existing regulations.

The directive was signed by Dr Alyebo and copied to the Vice-Chancellor, Chief Security Officer, Students’ Staff Advisers, Student Union President and leaders of departmental associations.

The suspension takes immediate effect, according to the notice.
