Ebonyi State has directed its emergency agency to assess flood damage and coordinate relief in Akaeze, Ivo Local Government Area, and other affected communities. BusinessDay reported the response on 28 September, citing a statement issued the previous day.

Information commissioner Ikeuwa Omebeh said the government was engaging NEMA and other federal institutions for support. The statement described displacement and damage to farmland, crops and property, without providing a final statewide loss total.

Officials warned residents against returning to unsafe buildings or flood-prone locations before clearance. The announced assessments are intended to guide relief and rehabilitation; they should not be treated as confirmation that assistance has already reached every household.
