A report dated 24 September says the Imo State Government postponed the council election scheduled for 26 September while a challenge to the process remained before the High Court in Owerri. TheNigeriaLawyer reported that the matter was adjourned to 30 October for mention.

According to its account, based on an update from the plaintiffs, the court struck out a substituted-service application because service had already occurred. It did not decide the substantive electoral dispute or grant the requested injunction at that sitting.

The report said no replacement election date had been announced then. This is dated procedural context; it does not claim a new court ruling on 28 September.
