Mbosi in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra held its New Yam Festival on 25 September, its first since 2021, according to a state information ministry report published on 28 September.

Traditional ruler Gregory Nwokora led the celebration, which included the cutting of the new yam and masquerade displays. Residents and community representatives linked renewed attendance to improved security.

Speakers also described contributions towards repairs to schools, the civic centre and electricity infrastructure, while asking the state for further help. Their accounts describe a community rebuilding process; the festival’s return should not be interpreted as an independent assurance that every security concern in the wider area has ended.
