The Federal Government has approved upgrades to Calabar, Onne, Rivers and Delta ports, according to a statement attributed to Marine and Blue Economy Minister Adegboyega Oyetola. Cross River’s information ministry published the announcement on 28 September, citing the minister’s Sunday statement.

Oyetola said the projects would complement earlier approvals for Apapa and Tin Can Island in Lagos. The stated objectives include improving cargo handling, vessel turnaround and regional freight connections.

Approval is an administrative milestone, not evidence that construction has been completed. The published announcement did not specify the cost, contractor or completion date for each of the four ports, details businesses will need to assess delivery.
