Solar pumps offered to farmers in Darazo and Ganjuwa
The constituency programme aims to reduce reliance on fuel-powered irrigation.
More than 1,500 farmers in Bauchi State’s Darazo/Ganjuwa constituency received solar irrigation equipment, according to a 28 September report by MSME Africa. The intervention was provided through House of Representatives member Mansur Manu Soro.
The reported package for each beneficiary comprised a DC solar pump and three panels. Soro said the equipment was intended to reduce spending on petrol and diesel and help farmers cultivate beyond the rainy season.
For farming households, the practical questions now concern installation, maintenance and reliable water supply. Distribution figures describe access to equipment; sustained reductions in costs and improvements in harvests would need to be measured over subsequent farming cycles.
