Akure skills programme combines practical training with confidence building

Thirty-six adolescents and young people from Ondo and Ekiti states completed the 2026 SHE LEARNS programme, according to BusinessDay’s 25 September report. The graduation and exhibition took place in Akure.

The programme was organised by the Balm in Gilead Foundation for Sustainable Development through its Women and Girls Empowerment Hub. Project coordinator Ayomiposi Ogundipe said its approach combined practical skills with communication, decision-making and confidence building.

The report describes programme completion, rather than verified job placements or business earnings. Its emphasis on transferable life skills also leaves room for participants to pursue different educational and career paths instead of treating vocational training as their only option.
